Capella Bangkok is the only one of the top-ten group to climb, and it brings the hotel back near the summit it held in 2024, when it was named the world’s best, before slipping to third in 2025.

Seven Entries Down to Five, While the Rankings Climbed

In 2025 Thailand had seven hotels in the Top 100. This year it has five. The two that dropped out are Dusit Thani Bangkok, previously 60th, and The Siam, previously 70th.

Narrow the view to the top 50 and the direction reverses. Thailand had three entries there last year and has four this year, because Aman Nai Lert Bangkok moved up from 51 to 48.

What happened is not a retreat but a concentration. The Thai hotels still on the list rank higher than before, while the tail of the list fell away. That is the part a headline count of five never shows.

The ranking works well as a shortlist, with three caveats:

• Every Thai entry is in Bangkok. Across both 2025 and 2026, no hotel in Phuket, Samui or Chiang Mai has made the list. For this tier of experience, the destination is the city, not the coast
